Philippine-New York Jaycees host Timi Nubla

The Philippine-New York Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Inc., a local chapter of the world’s largest leadership organization, hosted President Timi Nubla of JCI Manileña during her visit to New York on July 7, 2009. The chapter held the dinner reception at Mandarin Court, a restaurant serving the finest Dim Sum and Hong Kong style cuisine in Chinatown.

President Timi Nubla has been a member of JCI Manileña since 2006. She is currently a senior reporter for ABS-CBN in the Philippines. Her vision, together with the 2009 JCI Manileña Board of Directors, is to "Change Lives and Empower Individuals" through their work and example.

The Philippine-New York Jaycees and JCI Manileña have been sister chapters of the Junior Chamber International for over a decade. In recognition of this partnership between the two JCI chapters, the Philippine-New York Jaycees sponsored one of JCI Manileña's little sisters in their "Pabaon Project". The Pabaon Project provides allowance and mentorship to thirteen promising young female high school students in Manila's public school system.

Deputy Consul General Millie Sta. Maria-Thomeczek, herself a past president of JCI Manileña, attended the dinner together with other past Jaycees of Metro Manila chapters who have settled in the New York area. The Philippine-New York Jaycees also took this opportunity to award DCG Millie a plaque of recognition for her role as the honorary chair of the chapter's 45th anniversary gala and her continued support of the Jaycees’ projects.

The Philippine-NY Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Inc. is a group of young men and women, whose mission is to develop leaders who will create positive change in the local and global community and their own lives through management training and networking opportunities. Their vision is to be the premier leadership organization for young people and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 40 that offers quality projects, balanced programming, and opportunities to network with other organizations within the framework of community service and to further the movement of Junior Chamber International. Although "Philippine" is part of the chapter name, they are not solely a group for Filipinos; rather, they are a diverse international organization.
